Friday 20 August 2010

Our last two days in Tuum camp went really well.  Many put their faith in Christ or re-committed.  We swapped lots of photos and numbers etc at the end.  It was amazing!  Thanks be to God for all his work with us during our time with Stephen & Angelina.

We then travelled, as posted earlier, to the Samburu Park and had a wonderful rest day yesterday.  We were given two game drives and had a lovely swim in the pool.

We stay in Nairobi tonight and fly home early in the morning.

All the team are well, but tired, and are looking forward to seeing friends and family at Dublin Airport tomorrow night.

We arrive at 9pm by the way in case any of you lot have forgotten!

Keep praying until we see you.

God bless

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Wednesday 18 August 2010

We are just about to hit the road from Tuum to the Samburu Safari Lodge.

All is well with the team.

A helicopter has crashed not far from here but we aren't affected.

More later when we have our mobile phones back.

Keep praying.

Report from WPC Base Camp

Mrs Ferris rang today after speaking with Angelina via the satellite phone.  She reports that the team are doing "exceptionally well."  They have only today and tomorrow to complete on their teaching plans, and then they pack up to move closer to Nairobi for a couple of days relaxation before the long track home.  I have passed on our grateful thanks for this news and we also give thanks to God that it has gone so well.

Angelina reckons the Teams personal mobile phones should pick up reception sometime late on Wednesday as they travel towards Nairobi, just for the information of any friends and families anxiuous for a wee chat/txt.

Psalm 138 v 4-5
"May all the Kings of the earth praise you, O Lord, when they hear the words of your mouth.  May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the Glory of the Lord is great."

DAY NINE

Sorry we don't have time to do this every day but here's the news so far:-

Junior camp ended yesterday (Friday) morning.   The team presented the children with t-shirts and tracts.   The t-shirts were printed with the church mission statment "To know Jesus Christ and to make him known" 145 were given out and the children were delighted.   All of the children went back to their villages in landrovers and the same landrovers brought the seniors back to Tuum for 4 days of camp.  In the afternoon the team had some free time. David and DC managed to climb Mount Nero behind Stephen and Angelina's house while the rest of the team went for a shopping spree on Tuum High Street aka Bushmere.

We then played a heated volleyball match Team vs Tuum of which the winner is undicided!   We tried out a new way of travelling home but found that camals are even more uncomfortable than the landrovers!

Some good photos of the camal rides to follow!

All the seniors have now arrived safely and Tyrrell lead the first talk this morning on Elijah.

Please continue to give thanks that we are all safe and well

Pray for the junior kids as they go back to their villages wearing their t-shirts and with the bravery to share their faith with their family.

Pray for the seniors that those who are not saved will be and for confidence to stand up against their culture.

DAY SIX

Sorry for delay in posting our first blog from Tuum - a slight technical hitch, but thankfully we've sorted the problem, so here goes:-

We are all well and survived the long journey-not for the faint hearted! Angelina is looking after us so well we will probably have put on weight before we come home!

We are now on day 3 of the junior camp where we are teaching the children about Moses in the morning and Jesus in the evening. It's going really well- about 150 children from local villages who sleep on site, in bunks, and are given meals, and many who come in from Tuum also. They listen and respond really well to the stories and really enjoy the craft and games. They are also learning some new Norn Iron lingo from Jacqui, Pete and Suzie like 'whats the craic'and 'any banter?!'

On the first evening about 40 children came up to the front for prayer-amazing and very emotional. Please pray that the holy spirit continues to work in these young lives as its the only hope for this area and the evil tribal practices which still continue.

Yesterday we walked up to a local cluster of 'manyattas' which are the samburu homes and got to take photos inside. This was a real privilige which was only possible because the Kenyan leaders negotiated on our behalf, as the ladies were frightened of our cameras at first, but then really enjoyed posing!

Tyrell and D.C are away today with Stephen to visit Seren where Julius (who currently works here) is moving to work in that area.

Day Four - Tuum

The Team have arrived safely in Tuum and all are well - God is very good.  We hope to give you a more detailed report on TT's journey so far, in the very near future, but in the meantime give thanks for their continued well-being and strength, both physicaly and spiritually, to enjoy the next two weeks.

1 Thessalonians 5 v11

Day Three Progress

We contacted Base Camp in Waringstown at 0450hrs this morning to let them all know that things are fine and going to plan.  Call really appreciated I think!!!  Just boarding landrovers in Maralal at that particular time, for final track across country to Tuum.  Everyone in good spirits.  Keep praying people.

Acts 2 v 25
"I saw the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."

So Far - Day Two

All is well, 8 hours driving later.  4 in the landrover and 6 on a public bus some distance behind.  Driving on to the late hours then stopping for some sleep at a house along the road, and continuing at 5am tomorrow to make it to their destination before dark.  Second landrover joining the team shortly which should replace the bus situation.  No further reports until the Team reach Tuum.

Phil 4 v 5-7

"Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Arrival

The Team have arrived in Nairobi safely with all their luggage intact.  God is good.  Loaded onto Landrovers and on their way.  Thank you for your continuing prayers.  TT 2010

1 PETER 5 v 7
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"

With a few hours to kill at Gatwick Airport, what better way to spend it than snoozing. (Two of the youngest members of the team too!!)

Day One

The Team have left after group prayer with Rev Phil on the Manse Lawn.
